A Beginners Guide to Speaking Strava
Like every active network, Strava has a few terms and features that are distinct to the platform. If you want to build your brand in an authentic way, here are some key terms the Strava community like to use.
Kudos
Kudos are a quick thumbs-up that athletes give to one another on the platform. You can use kudos to congratulate your fellow athletes on a noteworthy activity or achievement.
Segments
GPS-based activities can be broken down into smaller sections called segments. Segments designate specific features or portions of a route – such as a popular climb or a tricky stretch of trail.
Local Legend
The laurel crown indicates that someone is the Local Legend of a segment. To earn the Local Legend achievement, you must match to the segment more times than any other athlete in the past 90 days.
KOM / QOM / CR
The King / Queen of the Mountain or Course Record is awarded to the fastest athlete to date on a segment’s overall leaderboard.
Medals
Awarded for your best personal performances on a segment. If you clock a new personal record on a segment, you'll receive a "PR" medal.
Activities
Activities are the cornerstone of Strava. Millions of people all over the world record activities every day on the platform, sharing them with their followers.
Strava Challenge
Strava runs Challenges, where brands motivate people to get active in return for a reward. If you're interested in running a Challenge there's more information here.
